What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is now being used more often by doctors, dentists, social workers, nurses, therapists, and other professionals.
Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness in which the inner, or unconscious, emotional part of the mind is more visible. People usually feel an enjoyable sense of relaxation.
In normal everyday life people enter hypnotic states naturally whilst daydreaming, watching TV, or driving a car unconsciously.

is perfectly safe (no-one has ever been harmed by the hypnotic state),
is not sleep or unconsciousness, you hear what is said,
cannot be forced on you, it requires your active co-operation,
almost everyone can be hypnotised although the degree varies. Usually only a light trance is required for therapy.

What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a form of psychotherapy using hypno­sis. (Psychotherapy is treatment of psychological problems by using knowledge of the mind). By using Hypnosis we can ‘talk to’ the inner mind and more easily overcome the source of the problems - in your thoughts, feelings and behaviours.  The approach I use will be tailored to your needs.

A Therapy Session - What to expect
In an atmosphere of confidentiality, trust and respect I'll start by asking you questions to find out what you want and what's been stopping you making the changes you want, consciously and unconsciously. The actual change techniques may involve being guided into a deliberate day-dream like state, going back into the past, remembering things in new ways, imagining how you want things to be, describing your thoughts and feelings, and enjoying a relaxing experience.

I am a certified Professional Hypnotherapist, certified Hypnotherapist Practitioner, certified NLP Practitioner, qualified in Psychotherapy, Counselling and Mental Health Nursing. I also hold a diploma in Clinical Weight Control.

Whilst Hypnotherapy is known for working rapidly, some therapy requires working over an extended period.
Being on medication can affect the outcomes of therapy.
For health related issues I may ask for your GPs permission.

Basic one hour session. Three in total are normally required. Covers phobias, anxiety, relationships, sports performance etc.
